listening carefully there-
everything was clear

Spring cherry blossoms
delicate among the leaves-

crystal icicles
endure the Winter blizzard-
then new years fireworks

Haiku - beginning or end

Summer day green grass
call of body mind and soul-
beginning or end

Haiku - Opium

Autumn spice incense
intoxicating fragrance-
perfume that i love

I didn't want to sound like a perfume sale advertisement. But I do love this perfume... I have not wore it for a while. I wear Joop! for women now. Opium is a heavy, musky, spice scent; if you have never smelled it. I really enjoy spice fragrances cinnamon and cloves in tea and incense as well.
I am against drugs and didn't feel for a sad haiku. This is what came to mind for the subject. Besides I am a woman and like fashion. I am honest. : )

Carpe Diem Ghost Writer #18 Jessica Slavin on Issa

Haiku- Summer

My inspiration today comes from:

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

Today (Tuesday July 22th) I love to share another haiku by Issa, his fourth of this month. It's a nice haiku and it's a real example of Issa's ''child-like'' look at the world. It's really a joy for me to prepare these episodes to help your inspiration flow.

Here is the fourth haiku by Issa:

hito kitara kawazu to nare yo hiyashi uri

if anyone comes,
turn into frogs,
o cooling melons!

© Kobayashi Issa

Issa has just put some melons into a tub of water outside the house, to cool them. As they float on the surface of the water, their green bellies remind him of frogs, just at the moment that he has a feeling of hesitation, of uneasiness, at leaving them ungarded. This momentary see-sawing of the mind makes the notion of melons turning into frogs more than merely fanciful. The humour also, joins where it seems to separate.

Another haiku on melons by Issa is the following:

nusubito no miru to mo shirade hiyashi uri

of the gaze of the thief. -
melons in cool

© Kobayashi Issa

My haiku inspired by Issa:

the thief passes
Summer melons cool in pond-
he thinks they are frogs

familiarly eerie
upon the first encounter
our approach guarded
translucent light of my life
now your treasured memories

Used words:  eerie, guarded, translucent, for "3 Word Wednesday"

Tree Blossom from this last Spring.

from tall tree petals

Spring snow each in place grounded-

with soft acceptance

This is from some Cemetery Photography I did
when I lived back in the States.
These are old tombstones under a Tree
with petals from that tree.

The Minute Poem: Simple Things

The Minute Poem:
Simple Things

Memories of crisp cool air
Now you are there
Autumn blooms
How the past looms

Forest visitors came to call
Feed time for all
Return each day
With names to say

At the time it seemed rather stale
Now just a tale
It is yet gone
But still lives on.

Beyond Words
Caring, Sharing, Remaining
Finding that place in Life.
